Cheryl Beatty is a folk/blues force to behold. With soaring vocals and a penchant for the poetic, her soulful songs are about social examinations, yearning and passion, loss and love, troubles and tides.
Born in a small rural town in South-Eastern Ontario, Cheryl Beatty surrounded herself with music from a young age. She grew up singing in choirs which lent itself to a fine ear for harmonies. Being a creative mind, she taught herself piano and guitar and naturally gravitated toward songwriting and lyricism. She has a large repertoire of original songs in the folk and blues varieties.
Cheryl's music has been used in independent, feature-length Canadian films, including "A Winter Tale" – by Frances-Anne Solomon (Leda Serene Films, 2007), and "Bull" – by Kent Tessman (The General Coffee Company Film Productions, 2008).
Brenda Clews is an African-Canadian multi-media poet, artist and videopoet whose approach broaches poetry, painting, theory, dance, recordings and video. Her oeuvre focuses on multiple callings, the obsessive muse. She has two chapbooks, the luminist poems, and, the Performance Poems, and a forthcoming book of poetry this Fall with Guernica Editions, Tidal Fury, and a novella next year, Fugue in Green, with Quattro Books.
